Recent events of the last two weeks have finally come to a close, and our war time doctors have finally been able to come up with a tally from them outlying villages and farms. We are unsure as to what has happened, and many of our people who have been called out to provide aid have reported that they can not imagine what caused this wholesale slaughter, nor is there any evidence of an army or group of marauders.
All that can be said is that the land has been destroyed, houses and farms alike gone up in fires, and many of the dead have been mutilated beyond recognition. Due to the high death toll, and the state of many of the bodies, there will be no single burials. Many of the little villages will become burials themselves, and the survivors will be taken to Sanctuary, to be placed in various institutions until suitable places of work can be found for them. There is also a high influx of children who have been left orphans, and they will be placed in the orphanage in Sanctuary as well until families can be found who are willing to foster them.
Unfortunately, with the state of affairs as they are now, we are going to be entering a time of incredible hardship in town. The farms that we all relied on are now utterly destroyed, and many of our own farmers are saying that the earth has been poisoned, and it is possible that the ground may never be reclaimed. Without this regular food source we all relied on, we can expect food prices to skyrocket, and expect the availability to grow even scarcer. We fear riots may be a real possibility in the near future, especially with so many new mouths in town without the means to fill them. We do ask for those who have stockpiled food, to please share with those less fortunate, in the hopes that it will make things more peaceful in the coming months.
Even more so, we ask for any donations that you can spare, to be given to the orphanage. They will be under a great deal of stress since many of the new arrivals are children under the age of ten. We understand that it is going to be hard, but there is no reason the children should suffer, so we ask for whatever donations anyone can make, go to them. The children are our future, and if we neglect them now, we as a city may very well cease to exist...
This is a true crisis, and we must all come together, or we will fall apart...
